WELCOME TO MIDNIGHT JIU- JITSU CLUB

Midnight Jiu-Jitsu Club offers a welcoming mat space where you can develop your jiu-jitsu skills on your own terms. The schedule is designed intentionally to support controlling your own jiu-jitsu journey through daily open mats, a weekly workshop, and modern feedback-driven instruction.

Midnight Jiu-Jitsu Club is inspired by the out-of-class training sessions that happen on roll-out mats in your friend's garage. Hours spent drilling, rolling, and workshopping the techniques and positions that'll help you further your understanding and connection to jiu-jitsu. The goal is collaborative; the black belts here are facilitators, not masters. This is not an academy, it's a club, and it's your jiu-jitsu.

Walter Moon, a Renzo Gracie Los Angeles black belt, studied under California jiu-jitsu pioneer Russ Miura for eight years. After moving to Portland, he studied under world-class instructors Eddie Jamrog and Hannah Sharp until 2021. After a return to Los Angeles, Moon studied under the high-level black belts at Renzo Gracie, including Malachy Silva and Henry Kim. Moon's black belt ceremony took place in March of 2024. His belt was tied by Shawn Williams black belt, Professor Armand Rivers.

The inspiration and heart of MJJC comes from training with Jesse Moynihan and Arun Sharma in parks, backyards, basements, and anywhere we could set up a mat since 2015.
